We went to the grocery store this monring. When we tried last Sunday afternoon, the store was so packed and the lines so line, that we just left. But now we were really low on fruits and vegetables and felt we must try. The first store that we passed was closed - supposedly poeple tried to set it on fire the other day. But the grocery store a little further down the way was open and not too busy. But the shelves had definitely already been picked over. There was no milk of the kind we usually get, no eggs and only a few loaves of bread left. I stood in the checkout line with Lexi and our cart while Stephen went around finding the things on our list - well, he found 2/3rds of them. About 2 hours later, Stephen and Lexi went home - I stayed in line. I finally paid for our groceries 3 and a half hours after we had left for the store - which is 5 minutes away from our house. The grocery store had no coins so they were asking people to make sure that they were buying things in round numbers - or had coins to pay with themselves. We should be set with food for a couple of days again now.
How's that for a fun New Year's Day?
